Quartz Glass Plate Manufacturer & Supplier

A quartz glass plate is a flat sheet of high-purity fused silica that stays optically clear, dimensionally stable and chemically inert far beyond the limits of ordinary glass. Also called a fused silica plate, it serves as a quartz optical window, a UV-transparent plate and a precision substrate for optical, semiconductor and high-temperature equipment. FGQuartz has manufactured polished and custom-cut quartz glass plate since 2005 from Lianyungang, China, shipping standard and bespoke plates worldwide.

What Is a Quartz Glass Plate?

A quartz glass plate is a flat panel of high-purity fused silica produced as a clear, UV or opaque sheet and finished to the flatness and surface quality an application needs. Because it is almost pure SiO₂, it transmits a very wide band of light, holds its shape under heat and resists nearly all chemicals.

Why a fused silica plate instead of ordinary optical glass? Standard glass blocks ultraviolet, softens at modest temperatures and can fluoresce or yellow under UV; a fused silica plate transmits from the deep ultraviolet to the near-infrared, withstands high heat, and resists laser and UV damage — which is why it is specified for windows, substrates and viewing ports in demanding equipment.

Key Properties of Fused Silica Plate

Broad UV–IR Transmission

Clear and UV grades transmit from the deep ultraviolet through the near-infrared, ideal for optical windows.

High Purity

High-purity fused silica with low metallic impurities keeps optical and wafer processes clean.

High Flatness & Polish

Plates can be lapped and polished to fine flatness and surface quality for windows and substrates.

High-Temperature Stability

Continuous use to about 1200 °C with a softening point near 1680 °C for hot viewing ports.

Thermal-Shock Resistance

A very low expansion coefficient lets a plate handle rapid temperature change without cracking.

Chemical Inertness

Resistant to most acids and solvents (excluding hydrofluoric acid) for harsh process environments.

Built to spec · custom fabrication

How to Choose the Right Quartz Glass Plate

Clear, UV or opaque?

Use a clear plate for general visible and near-IR work, a UV-grade plate when you need strong deep-UV transmission (lithography, sterilisation, UV optics), and an opaque plate when the part is purely thermal or for shielding.

Polished or as-cut?

Optical windows and substrates need polished, flatness-controlled surfaces; as-cut or fine-ground plates are economical for mechanical, thermal or shielding parts where surface finish is not critical.

Which grade for my optics?

Deep-UV work needs a high-UV-transmission grade; visible and IR work can use a standard clear grade. We carry several grades, so the exact one is confirmed with our team against your wavelength and application — not chosen from a code on this page.

Not sure which to pick? Send us your dimensions, thickness, wavelength and surface requirement and we will recommend the right plate.

Quality Control & Why FGQuartz

Every quartz glass plate goes through a strict in-house quality process, with inspection at each stage:

  • Raw-material purity verification
  • Dimension, thickness and flatness measurement on every custom order
  • Surface and visual quality check
  • Optical and thermal performance testing where specified

Backed by experience since 2005, in-house cutting and polishing for bespoke orders, a stable high-purity material supply and international shipping, FGQuartz serves optical, semiconductor, laboratory and industrial customers — from standard catalogue plates to one-off custom builds.

Quartz Glass Plate FAQ

What is a quartz glass plate made of?

It is a flat sheet of high-purity fused silica, giving it far better UV transmission, heat resistance and chemical stability than ordinary glass.

What is the difference between a quartz plate and ordinary optical glass?

A fused silica plate transmits deep-UV light, withstands high temperature and resists UV and laser damage, whereas ordinary glass blocks UV and softens at much lower temperatures.

What is a quartz optical window?

It is a polished, flatness-controlled quartz glass plate used to let light into or out of an instrument or chamber while sealing it — common in lasers, sensors and viewing ports.

Can you supply UV quartz plates?

Yes. We supply UV-grade UV quartz plate with high deep-UV transmission for lithography, sterilisation and UV optics.

Do you offer JGS quartz plate?

We supply the optical UV-grade fused silica plate that buyers often call JGS quartz plate. Because the right grade depends on your wavelength and application, we confirm the exact material with you before production instead of listing a fixed code.

What sizes and thicknesses can you make?

We supply everything from small optical windows to large-format sheets, in thin gauges through to thick blanks, cut and polished to your drawing.

What surface finishes are available?

Plates can be supplied as-cut, fine-ground, or single- and double-side polished, with ground, chamfered or bevelled edges.

Do you offer custom-cut quartz plates?

Yes. We cut rounds, rectangles and custom outlines, drill holes and steps, and polish to spec from DXF, STEP or IGES drawings, including single-piece prototypes.

Which grade should I choose?

We carry several grades, so we recommend the grade based on your wavelength and application and confirm it before production rather than asking you to pick a code — this avoids costly misunderstandings.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. FGQuartz ships quartz glass plate orders internationally and handles export documentation.
