Custom Quartz Glass
Machined, Formed & Built to Your Drawing
No catalogue covers every application. When a standard tube, rod, or plate cannot do the job, FGQuartz produces the custom quartz glass component your process requires — to your drawing, your dimensions, and your geometry. From a single prototype to full production, our Lianyungang facility has manufactured precision custom fused silica components for semiconductor equipment engineers, optical instrument designers, solar process engineers, and research scientists across 40+ countries since 2005.
What Is Custom Quartz Glass Fabrication?
Custom quartz glass fabrication is the process of manufacturing fused silica components to a specific customer drawing, dimension set, or functional specification — rather than from a fixed catalogue of standard sizes. It covers everything from a simple tube cut to a non-standard length, through to a multi-port reactor vessel with precision-machined flanges, polished optical windows, and flame-welded gas inlet assemblies.
The need for custom fused silica components arises whenever the application geometry, dimensional constraint, or functional requirement cannot be met by any stock product. Semiconductor equipment engineers designing a new furnace platform need process tubes matched to their specific inner bore and flange pattern. Optical instrument designers need windows and cells with specific thickness and clear aperture combinations. Solar cell process engineers need diffusion tubes matched to a non-standard wafer format. In each case, the answer is a custom quartz glass part produced to a drawing.
Why Fused Silica for Custom Components?
Fused silica — amorphous silicon dioxide glass — is the foundation material for custom quartz glass fabrication because it uniquely combines extreme thermal stability, near-zero thermal expansion, broad UV-to-infrared optical transparency, and chemical inertness to most industrial process environments. No other affordable glass or ceramic material provides all of these properties simultaneously.
These properties make custom quartz glass components irreplaceable in applications where high temperature, chemical exposure, or UV/IR optical function would disqualify polymers, metals, and common glass alternatives. Furthermore, fused silica is fully machinable — it can be ground, drilled, turned, and polished with diamond tooling to the tight geometrical accuracy demanded by precision process equipment.
When to Choose Custom Over Standard
- Non-standard outer diameter, wall thickness, or length not found in any catalogue
- Flanges, ports, closed ends, or other fabricated features on a tube or vessel
- Complex hollow geometries — tees, crosses, multi-arm manifolds, bent sections
- Optical elements — lenses, windows, prisms — with specific dimensions or surface quality
- Assembly of multiple quartz components into a single integrated unit
- Reproduction of a broken component for which no drawing exists

Product Scope
Custom Fused Silica Components We Manufacture
Custom quartz glass fabrication at FGQuartz covers a broad scope of component categories. If your application requires a specific geometry that does not appear below, contact the engineering team — almost any shape that can be expressed in a drawing can be produced in fused silica.
Custom Tubes with Fabricated Ends & Features
Non-standard diameter tubes, tubes with precision-ground flat ends for O-ring sealing, tubes with flame-welded KF or CF vacuum flanges, tubes with side ports, closed-end thermocouple protection tubes, and tubes with step diameter transitions are the most common custom tube configurations. FGQuartz produces these from clear, opaque, and UV-grade fused silica in diameters from 1 mm to 1000 mm OD.
Custom Reactor Vessels & Process Chambers
Cylindrical and rectangular quartz glass reactor vessels with multi-port configurations for gas inlet, outlet, sampling, thermocouple entry, and pressure relief are produced by combining CNC machining and oxy-hydrogen flame welding. Catalyst bed holders, high-temperature reaction vessels, CVD reactor liner tubes, and plasma confinement chambers are standard custom items for the chemical processing and semiconductor industries.
Custom Optical Windows, Cuvettes & Cells
Windows, optical flats, beam-splitter substrates, view ports with metal mounts, UV cuvettes with custom path lengths, spectroscopy flow cells, and laser entrance/exit windows are produced from JGS1 (UV-grade) or JGS2 (standard clear) fused silica. Surface quality levels from commercial polish to laser grade are available. Custom dimensions outside the standard catalogue range are produced to drawing.
Semiconductor & Solar Process Equipment Parts
Custom quartz glass components for semiconductor and solar process equipment include non-standard-format wafer boat designs, push paddles for new furnace platforms, furnace tube liner configurations not in the standard range, gas injector assemblies, and custom process tube end-cap and sealing hardware. FGQuartz also reverse-engineers obsolete parts from legacy equipment where OEM supply has been discontinued.
Custom Rods, Paddles & Machined Blanks
Solid fused silica rod machined into flat-blade push paddles for semiconductor and solar wafer boat handling, optical rod elements with polished end faces for light guidance, electrode isolation columns for plasma equipment, thermocouple closed-end plug fittings, and precision structural members for high-temperature assemblies. Large-diameter rod stock up to 300 mm is available as machining blank material.
Custom Plates, Substrates & Kiln Furniture
Custom-size quartz glass plates for optical windows, substrate holders, kiln shelves, and heat distribution plates are produced by precision diamond sawing and surface grinding from fused silica billet stock. Dimensions from small optical substrates to 1000 × 1000 mm industrial plates are achievable. Through-holes, slots, and mounting features are machined with diamond tooling before final surface finishing.
How It Works
How to Order Custom Quartz Glass from FGQuartz
The custom quartz fabrication process at FGQuartz follows six clear steps — from drawing submission to delivered part. The process is identical for a single prototype piece and a production-volume order. What changes is the manufacturing quantity, not the engineering rigour applied to each step.
Submit Your Drawing or Specification
Send your DXF, STEP, IGES, or PDF drawing to the FGQuartz engineering team at fgquartz@outlook.com. For simple geometries, a dimensioned sketch and a description of the functional requirement are sufficient. For complex assemblies, the engineering team will request clarification on any ambiguous features before proceeding.
Engineering Review & DFM Feedback
The FGQuartz engineering team reviews the drawing for manufacturability in fused silica — checking for minimum wall thickness requirements, inside corner radii, surface quality specifications, and the most appropriate fabrication route. Design for Manufacture (DFM) feedback is provided within 24 hours of receiving the drawing for most geometries.
Quotation Within 24 Hours
A detailed quotation covering unit price, lead time, and volume quantity pricing is provided within 24 business hours of drawing receipt for standard-complexity custom quartz glass components. Complex assemblies with multiple fabrication steps may require 48 hours. The quotation includes the manufacturing drawing for customer approval before production begins.
First Article Production & Inspection
For new custom fused silica components, FGQuartz produces a first article — a single unit manufactured to the approved drawing — and performs a full dimensional inspection before requesting customer acceptance. The first article inspection report documents all critical dimensions. For repeat orders of previously approved components, production proceeds directly.
Production & Quality Inspection
Once the first article is approved, production proceeds at the ordered quantity. Each custom quartz glass component is inspected against the drawing before packaging. For precision optical components, surface quality is verified by interferometric or visual inspection. For thermally formed assemblies, weld zones are inspected under UV-polarised illumination. All inspection records are retained for traceability.
Packaging, Documentation & Despatch
Custom quartz glass components are individually wrapped in protective foam and packed in a sturdy outer carton to prevent damage during international freight handling. Export documentation — commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and material documentation on request — is prepared for each shipment. Express airfreight from Lianyungang reaches most destinations in three to six business days.
